ADULT EMPOWERMENT

Our dual-generation approach offers adults in the neighborhood

many opportunities to build community and improve their lives.

In addition to workshops and volunteer opportunities for parents, City of Promise links adults in the neighborhood with workforce and health services that build self-sufficiency and encourage self-care.

SUPPORT FOR JOB SEEKING

City of Promise staff are trained Connectors for Network2work. This enables us to encourage parents to maximize their earning potential.

HEALTHY LIVING ACTIVITIES

Our community garden is the centerpiece of healthy living activities. In collaboration with Local Food Hub and City Schoolyard Garden, we support the delivery of fresh produce in the neighborhood twice per month throughout the summer and early fall. Cooking classes, offered in collaboration with Bread & Roses and Virginia Cooperative Extension, are also very popular with our senior citizens.

SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT

City of Promise staff work closely with parents to support their child's success. In partnership with the Charlottesville City Schools Family Engagement team, City of Promise promotes parent involvement in their children's education. Workshops, listening sessions, and bus stop meet-and-greets build strong ties.
