Pathway Coaches make it a priority to connect students with existing programs in Charlottesville, encouraging involvement in sports, music, and school-sponsored clubs. City of Promise pays the fee for numerous partner activities, including the Boys & Girls Club and camps hosted by Parks & Rec. Throughout the month, we collaborate with partners to offer educational "stations" for elementary students, plus tutoring, field trips, and leadership activities for older youth. Every other Monday, volunteers from Jefferson Area CHIP and Thrive Women's Healthcare lead girls in building friendships, leadership skills, self-esteem, and healthy living habits.
UVA student volunteers from Madison House assist students with homework at City of Promise.
UVA Arts Mentors provide fine arts instruction for 2nd-4th graders, and instrument lessons for 5th-12th graders.
Ms. Paige from Wildrock brings fun, interactive play activities to the neighborhood for 2nd-4th graders.
Once a month, 9th-12th graders discuss academic success and how to reach their personal potential. Dinner provided by Chick-fil-A at Fashion Square Mall.
Staff from City Schoolyard Garden host garden activities in the spring for kindergarten and 1st graders.
Ms. Alex from The PB & J Fund teaches 3rd and 4th graders how to cook nutritious meals.
Ms. Melissa hosts 7th and 8th graders weekly, and guides them in developing leadership and life skills.
