State Health Commissioner

Dr. Norm Oliver's educational journey and his work as a physician make him a wonderful role model for our community:

  • His pursuit of a bachelor's degree at the age of 38, followed by medical school at age 40, serves as an inspiration to parents in our Key and Dreambuilders programs. It's never too late to pursue our dreams!

  • He reminds all students that learning requires hard work, but all obstacles can be overcome.

  • He affirms that support from family and coaches like City of Promise staff make a difference in opening doors of opportunity for youth.

  • He encourages all of us to prioritize our health - both mental and physical - as we emerge from the pandemic.
