Originally from Orange County, Jamaala Hamilton moved to Charlottesville as a teenager and graduated from Charlottesville High School.

She began her career in community work through property management, with roles at Greenstone on 5th, Kindlewood, and Carlton View Apartments. While working in the rental office, she realized that her impact could be far greater outside the confines of a desk, in the community. Her passion for helping others led her to City of Promise, which she describes as the missing link for so many individuals and families she connects with daily.
