At City of Promise, we envision all children in Charlottesville reaching their academic and personal potential. While the COVID-19 crisis presents incredible challenges, it also presents new opportunities for us to support our youth and for you to support our mission. Thank you for helping kids in Charlottesville reach their promise!

Support Gateway Services

Families in our neighborhood can count on us to guide them to vital resources available in Charlottesville. And because our office is located right in the community, our neighbors have easy access to practical supplies that we purchase or receive as in-kind donations. Your support enables us to provide grocery cards, LYFT rides, household goods, and connections to emergency assistance.

Support Long-term Needs

Research tells us that lengthy periods away from formal classroom instruction can widen the achievement gap for children in low-income neighborhoods. We seek financial partners with vision, willing to join us in mitigating the impact of the coronavirus. Pathway Coaches will mentor and inspire youth by phone and computer, and incentivize student participation in this unique, virtual program model.  Your support now and into the future will strengthen the personal attention and care children need to walk through this challenging time and to thrive beyond it.

Become a Monthly Donor

We understand that every household feels some financial strain right now, so a monthly donation is an easy way to give more over time. This steady giving enables us to make ambitious programmatic enhancements linked to our long-term goals. Every gift makes a difference.

  • $20/month covers the cost for six students to go on a college visit.

  • $50/month supports over 30 round-trip LYFT rides.

  • $250/month covers fees for camps and lessons.

Indicate on your giving form that you would like to make a recurring gift.

Support Our Game Changer's 2020 Campaign

Every spring, City of Promise hosts the Game Changer's Luncheon, but the event has been cancelled this year. We normally expect to raise more than $20,000 from sponsors and individuals and these funds are critical for fulfilling our mission for the remainder of this school year. Our scheduled keynote speaker, UVA law professor Dayna Matthew, has agreed to offer the community a compelling video message. Check out her remarks here.
